LGB 29050 - LGB Factory TrainThis is a model of the so-called "Factory Train", as it stood for many years in front of the Nürnberg LGB plant on Saganer Street in Nürnberg.The train consists of the steam locomotive, road number 99 5606, in the prototypical paint and lettering for the Seventies. Locomotive builder plates of etched metal are separately applied. The locomotive has a powerful ball bearing mounted Bühler motor and an mfx/DCC decoder with many digitally controlled functions and sounds. It also has a built-in smoke unit with steam exhaust synchronized to the motion of the wheels. Digitally controlled headlights change over with the direction of travel and are turned on in analog operation. The locomotive has digitally controlled cab lighting. The running sounds will work in analog operation. The two-axle gondola with hinged hatch covers is prototypically painted and lettered for the Seventies. The car has a separately applied brake wheel for the hand brakes.The two-axle boxcar, car number 448, is prototypically painted in white and lettered for the Seventies. The car has a separately applied brake wheel for the hand brakes and a prototypical arrangement of the brake shoes only on the inner surface of the wheels.The two-axle boxcar, car number 336, is prototypically painted in brown and lettered for the Seventies. Lenz Type i is the mundane designation for one of the cutest steam locomotives ever built in Germany. Only two of the units of this class constructed in the Vulcan shipyard in Stettin can still be admired today. One of them is the famous "Franzburg". It still runs today in Bruchhausen-Vilsen at the German Railroad Association and as an LGB model on many, many garden railroads. Number 2 was sold in 1970 to LGB and has stood for many years along with the so-called "Factory Train" as a landmark of the discoverers of garden railroading in front of the Nürnberg LGB plant on Saganer Street. This locomotive ran as road number 99 5606 starting in 1894 for the Franzburg County Railways and thus helped develop the Baltic Sea coastal area. Its line linked the cities of Ribnitz-Damgarten and Barth with Stralsund and the standard gauge line to Rostock. The locomotive in the characteristic 0-4-0 design with two driving axles and no pilot truck ran on this route until being retired. Its external characteristic: the missing steam dome. The dimensions for this 9.9 metric ton "heavy" locomotive were a length over the buffers of 5.8 meters / 18 feet 10 inches and a wheelbase of 1.7 meters / 66 inches. The water tanks were mounted on the right and left of the frame. The water capacity was one cubic meter / 264.17 gallons and the fuel capacity was 350 kilograms / 771.62 pounds. With a robust maximum speed of 30 kilometers per hour / 18.75 miles per hours, this little iron horse hauled passengers and freight along the Baltic Sea coast until well into the Sixties. The long trip for road number 99 5606 led via Nürnberg for several years to Schwäbisch-Gmünd to the strongly reinforced garage roof of the Märklin Technology Director Wolfrad Bächle, who was absolutely convinced of the historical value of this irresistible small locomotive. For that reason, he transferred it to a new owner, who wants to overhaul the locomotive for a new life as an operational steam locomotive. This model is being delivered in the set with the three prototypically correct two-axle "Factory Train" cars as they looked in the Seventies.
